Circuit ICAR launches new season with major improvements

8 May 2009

Mirabel, Québec - April 30, 2009 - Circuit ICAR is extremely proud and pleased to announce the opening of the 2009 racing season on May 2, 2009 following a winter of major improvements to the entire facility. Car enthusiasts, racers and spectators will enjoy the upgrades made to the road course, Club House, karting track, Pro shop and much more.

According to Marc Arseneau, ICAR President, "our complex and track have been improved drastically on many levels and car enthusiasts, racers and spectators will be pleased with the changes".  Including advanced and controlled environment driving and racing programs, ICAR is redifining the motorsports industry by making the sport more accessible, by transmitting its passion and by increasing the quality of experience for car enthusiasts, racers and spectators.

ICAR made a large investment in the track this year by adding a drift circuit, a quarter mile drag strip while the main road course has been improved by the addition of new esse-curves, new visual points of reference, run-off zones and tire barriers. "These important changes are a big step in the improvement process of the complex, says Marc Arseneau. They will benefit racers to greater racing challenge, offer more overtaking opportunities, increase the level of safety and make racing more interesting for the spectators. I would like to thank Roger Peart, President of ASN Canada for his contribution in the new homologation process."
"I clearly see that Circuit ICAR is following its original vision to bring its track into its second phase by improving and redefining the driving experience of racers while maintaining a strong commitment to providing a controlled and safe environment," says Roger Peart of ASN Canada.

ICAR is inaugurating a quarter mile drag strip and has developed, in partnership with Montrealracing.com, the Dragnights for cars and in partnership with TRACKFEVER, motorcycle drag racing. ICAR is also hosting this summer major events such as the Moto Journal ICAR Superbike event featuring the Parts Canada Superbike championship that will be held on June 11-14 and the Grand Prix of Mirabel, featuring the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship on June 27 and 28. Furthermore, the karting track, designed by Jacques Villeneuve, when not used for kart rentals, will host the Coupe de Montréal on May 15th and 16th and the Championnat du Québec on August 21st and 22nd.

For the public, ICAR has developed new driving programs. From handling a modified racing car to controlling a single-seat open wheel mini formula one, ICAR has car fanatics and racing enthusiasts covered for ultimate driving experiences.
Karting fans will be able to feel the extreme speed and excitement by participating in our new iKART Challenge championships or by taking part in our iLAP Time Attack contest. The top three winners will get the chance to ride on the edge in one of our three ROTAX DD2 Kart Discovery prizes and be eligible for over $1000 in purses.

For the 2009 racing season, ICAR has also made significant improvements for its private members of Le Club which includes a separation of the premises to offer more privacy and the introduction of the ICAR Spa. Members will receive personalized services at the Spa where they can indulge in the best care and treatments available.

The entire team at ICAR is looking forward to an exciting 2009 racing season and is proud to welcome all the racing enthusiasts to its weekly drag racing events or to the major events.
